I genuinely don't really know what I’m doing and trial and error are the only tutors I have/can afford! I’m doing this Staithes inlet scene, the tide is out and there's about a billion different coloured/shaped pebbles and bits of gravel in the picture, along with a stream like run off.
I experimented a lot and found the easiest way to attack representing the gravel and obtaining the result I want, was to use old broken blown out brushes. I even took scissors to some to make the bristles random and just went for it on the canvas.
I’m quite pleased with how its shaping up, got a way to go yet but I’ll not be binning my old paintbrushes any time soon, they seem to work for this random stuff.
Hope to have this somewhere near by the end of the week and I suppose I’ll be looking through my photographs for my next painting, no more gravel though…
Thanks for looking in.
